Едва ли има планина като Родопите, която напоследък да се слави с толкова много празници, свързани със селския туризъм. Освен да се настаните в автентична или реновирана родопска къща и сутрин наистина да ви събужда петел, а не досаден будилник, може да участвате и в многобройните празници, станали вече традиционни в някои селища и села в Родопите.

Ще имате възможност да се запознаете с кулинарната страна на селския туризъм в Родопите, ако отидете на празника на картофа в Чепеларе, организиран на първи път преди няколко години. Освен уважение към прословутите родопски картофи, тук ви демонстрират завидни кулинарни умения, като приготвят различни неща от картофи. Че и състезание правят между сортовете картофи, кой бил най-едър. Селският туризъм в Родопите предполага и подобен род забавления. Освен със забавната страна на това атрактивно начинание, тук може да се срещнете и със сериозни производители на картофи, които дебатират свои искания, отнасящи се до изкупните цени на картофите.

Кулинарният селски туризъм в Родопите има и друг уважаван продукт – боба. На него също е посветен от години наред атрактивен празник през месец декември в с. Смилян. Идват огромно количество почитатели на селския туризъм в Родопите. Освен, че опитват ароматна бобена чорба, те могат да си купят какъвто сорт им харесва от импровизирания пазар на фасул. Местните жители се надпреварват да покажат своите кулинарни умения и излагат пред гостите най-различни ястия, приготвени от боб.

Кулинарният аспект на селския туризъм в Родопите очевидно е много силен в момента. Скоро е бил организиран празник на хляба в Източните Родопи с показно как се жъне лимец, най-старият сорт пшеница с уникални качества. Предлагали са и хляб от лимец. Състезавали са се да приготвят и някаква вкуснотия от лимец.

Освен да посетят тези празници, туристите могат и да участват във фестивал от друг характер, различен от кулинарния. Селския туризъм в Родопите предполага и развиване на усет към неизброимите видове цветя и билки, запознаване с техните лечебни свойства и разпознаване на редките видове растения, които се срещат само тук. Такъв е Фестивалът на дивите цветя в Смолян, организиран около Еньов ден. Този фестивал е част от редица други фестивали на дивите цветя, провеждани в останалите балкански страни.

Еньов ден е отбелязван и на поляните около р. Малка Арда с оригинално начинание – конкурс на детски рисунки на цветя. На тези фестивали участниците се учат на тънкостите как да събират билки и да ги съхраняват.

Освен подобни фестивали има и други – празник на народното творчество и занаяти в с. Могилица, в с. Сивино пък посетителите могат да участват в седянка и да опитват какви ли не вкуснотии и напитки.

Подобни празници и фестивали внасят динамика и разнообразие в селския туризъм в Родопите, към когото има все по-голям интерес.
